Today I’m introducing a new segment I’ll call “story stocks”. What I consider a story stock, is a technical pattern that I think has an imminent breakout coming, along with an exciting ”story”, or undervalued fundamentals. This is my first “story stock”!

And now the story behind the chart…..
Founded in 1996, iPass delivers the world’s largest commercial Wi-Fi
network and trusted connectivity platform. With more than 700,000 connection venues, iPass
gives its customers always-on, frictionless connectivity anywhere in the world.
The list of carriers that have been announced have an aggregate mobile user base of roughly 1 billion.
These carriers include Telstra, SK Telecom, Deutsche
Telekom, China Mobile, China Telecom, Cubic, Zain Group, and OI. iPass has indicated other
large carriers have signed up to carry iPass offering but have not been formally announced yet.
With the mobile use base large and growing iPass expects significant revenues to begin as 2012
progresses and legacy business finally winds down.
iPass expects to be EBITDA positive in the first quarter, and earnings positive before year end. With 25 million
in cash and no debt the company has no need to raise cash in the foreseeable future.
The catalyst behind iPass’s recent performance continues to be the reemergence of WIFI as a cost effective alternative
to more expensive consumer internet alternatives.
The following WSJ article will help to explain the economic forces driving iPass performance in 2012.
